I'M NEW!

Are you considering Bethel for the first time or first time in a long time?

Bethel is committed to helping you discover the purpose of the Church. Our church is not a building or a worship experience. We are a group of people who have been made new because of what Jesus did. We are simply the local expression of God’s grand vision called the Church. We are far from perfect, but we make it our goal to be about His mission everyday. If you’re interested in discovering what it means to belong at Bethel, you can find out more about what we believe below.

For more than 80 years, Bethel Church has desired to see transformation in people’s lives here in our city and all around the world. Two distinguishing marks of Bethel Church have always been Christ-centered preaching/teaching and entrepreneurial leadership.  From our humble beginnings in a small house to helping plant churches in some of the least reached places in the world, God has used Bethel Church to make a lasting difference in the lives of many.

HOW TO CONNECT

Visit us in the Guest Center after a Worship Experience.
At Bethel you belong because your value isn’t determined by where you’ve been, where you come from, what you’ve done, or who you know. It’s our hope and prayer for you to connect with His family, the Church. We were designed to be in community. It is our mission and passion to help you along your journey of finding that community. Below you will see how you can take the first step toward connection at Bethel. Pastor Chuck Elliott

When you attend Bethel you’ll encounter a couple of things. First, you’ll be welcomed by someone from our Connection Team. Our Connection Team members are here to help guide our guests to the coffee bar, Events Center, and into the auditorium for our worship experience. If you’re a parent, they’ll help you securely check in your child to our KiDZ! program. Our KiDZ! ministry is for ages birth through fifth grade and meets during the Worship Experiences.

I’M INTERESTED IN

DISCOVER WHO WE ARE

Bethel is all about helping people to discover Christ and to discover what it means to belong to a local church. If you’re still exploring the claims of Christ or what it means to become a Christ-follower, we have classes and groups where you can ask questions and get more information in a comfortable, non-threatening environment. God is okay with your questions and so are we.

WORSHIP

During our worship experiences, you’ll notice right away that music is a key element to what we do. We understand that music is merely a medium, however. Jesus is the aim and focus of why we sing and He’s ultimately who we sing about. Our goal is to join the chorus of creation in celebration of the One who redeems, saves, and delivers us. The atmosphere is at times vibrant or reflective, but always open to all as we prepare our hearts to hear God’s Word proclaimed to us.

PREACHING / TEACHING

Jesus is both the subject and object of the preaching and teaching ministry at Bethel. Our Pastors are all students of the Bible and desire to reveal Jesus through their preaching and teaching. We believe that God’s Word is relevant for today for every man, woman, boy and girl on the planet. Our aim is not to just help you be a better person but find fulfillment in life. We believe that is a by-product of the faith that comes from hearing the Word of God proclaimed. Often, we’ll go through whole books of the Bible, verse by verse, chapter by chapter to show you how the Bible interprets itself and how it all relates to Jesus. All our sermons are online so you can listen throughout the week as well.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

ONE TRUE GOD

We believe that there is but one living and true God; one in essence, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:18–19; Mark 12:29; John 1:14; Acts 5:3–4; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 1:1–3; Rev. 1:4–6

GOD’S WORD

We believe God’s Word, the Bible, is the verbally inspired, inerrant in origin, and infallible, God-breathed revelation of Himself. We believe the 66 books of the Bible constitute the totality of the revelation of God to humanity, our only rule of faith and practice.

Mark 12:26, 36; 13:11; Luke 24:27, 44; John 5:39; Acts 1:16; 17:2–3; 18:28; 26:22–23; 28:23; Rom. 15:4; 1 Cor. 2:13; 10:11; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21

CREATION

We believe that the Genesis 1 account of Creation is “ex nihilo”, or “from nothing”. God did not make the universe from preexisting building blocks, but rather God alone is preexistent. Creation was a supernatural event, the moment that God created all things from nothing.

Gen. 1:1-31; 2:1-25; Job 26:13; 38:4; Pss. 33:6-9; 148:5; Isa. 40:12, 13; John 1:3; 1 Cor. 8:6; Col. 1:15-17; Heb. 11:3

FALL OF HUMANITY

We believe in the Universal Fall of Humanity. The first human’s voluntarily disobedience to the commands of God plunged them and their posterity (us) into a sinful state of total depravity. As a result, humanity is enslaved to sin and bound to its terrible fate of judgment. Humanity is hopeless to save itself apart from the intervention of God’s grace that enables us to believe.

Gen. 1:26; 2:17; 6:5; Pss. 14:1–3; 51:5; Jer. 17:9; John 3:6; 5:40; 6:35; Rom. 3:10–19; 8:6–7; Eph. 2:1–3; 1 Tim. 5:6; 1 John 3:8

SALVATION

We believe salvation is found only in the person of Jesus Christ who is the fulfillment of God’s first and enduring promise. His death on the cross satisfied the wrath of God, simultaneously demonstrating the love of God and atoning for our sins. We affirm the eternal security of the believer, knowing that He predestined us in love to receive adoption as sons and daughters and trust that He will bring to completion the work of grace that He began in us.

Isa. 64:6; Matt. 26:28; John 3:7–18; Rom. 5:6–9; 2 Cor. 5:21; Gal. 3:13; 6:15; Eph. 1:7; Phil. 3:4–9; Titus 3:5; James 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:18–19, 23; Rom. 8:29; 1 Cor. 6:19; Heb. 7:25; 1 John 2:1–2; 5:13; Jude 24

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is the gift of Jesus to His people, the Church. The Holy Spirit regenerates, indwells, seals, fills, baptizes, gifts, and empowers believers with everything needed for to live according to God’s will and accomplish His mission in the world.

John 3:6; 14:16–17; 16:7–15; Acts 2:1-4, 17-21; 4:31; Rom. 8:9, 23; 1 Cor. 6:19; 12:13; 13:8; Eph. 2:22; 4:30; 5:18; 1 John 2:20–27

THE CHURCH

We believe in the Church, Universal, purchased, redeemed, and called out as an assembly to declare the praises of Him who has brought us out of darkness and into the eternal kingdom of His Son. The local church is an expression and manifestation of the Church, in which people are brought to faith, immersed in water, associated in community through a covenant—unbreakable and unshakable.

Matt. 16:16–18; 28:19; Mark 16:15; John 17:18; Acts 1:8; 2:42–47; Rom. 12:5; 1 Cor. 12:12–27; 2 Cor. 5:18–20; Eph. 1:20–23; 4:3–10; Hebrews 12:28

THE FUTURE

We believe Jesus’ return (Second Coming) is imminent. We affirm that His reappearing is an “end” to things as we have known them, but a new beginning in which God restores and renews His Creation. When Christ returns those who believe will be eternally delivered from the presence of sin, evil, injustice, and pain, while those who reject Him will experience eternal separation from God. The Heavenly City will be the eternal dwelling of those whom Christ has redeemed.

John 14:1–3; 1 Cor. 15:51–52; Phil. 3:20; 1 Thess. 4:13–18; Titus 2:11–14; Deut. 30:1–10; Isa. 11:9; Ezek. 37:21–28; Rom. 8:19–23; 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23; 2 Thess. 1:7–9; Jude 6–7; Rev. 20:11–15; 21:1-8, 22-27
